Why do I need to insulate at least 20 m²?

If you are installing roof insulation, loft floor insulation or floor insulation in your home, you must install at least 20 square metres of insulation. The newly installed insulation material must have a minimum insulation value (Rd value) of 3.5 [m² K/W]. The same conditions apply to the National Insulation Programme (NIP) as to the ISDE scheme
 (Link Dutch only). These requirements are set by the central government.

Why must I have at least two poorly insulated areas in my home?

This is one of the requirements for a homeowner to be eligible for a grant from the National Insulation Programme (NIP). An area of the home is considered poorly insulated if the insulation values are equal to or lower than the values specified by the government on this page
 (Link Dutch only).

Why do I need to take and upload photos?

Accepted Answer

The local municipality must report to the central government and provide evidence that the grant funds have been used correctly. By checking the photos, the local council can prove that the grant funds have been used to install insulation materials.

Why might my home be inspected to check whether I have installed the insulation materials?

Accepted Answer

The local municipality is required to report to the central government and provide evidence that the grant funds have been used correctly. Random checks are carried out to verify whether the insulation materials have been installed in the property. The quality of the installation is not checked. The inspection only verifies whether the resident has installed the 20m² of insulation. If it transpires that the insulation materials have not been installed, the local municipality will be informed and may decide to arrange a repayment scheme with you.
